        The solid education in the field of tourism studies provide in the Department of Tourism Management has practically cultivated countless outstanding talents in the industries of tourism and hospitality, especially in the excellent results of teaching natural sustainability and cultural creativity. Our department has been affirmed by industry executives, and has been fequently rated as one of the top three departments ,by studies in recognized proffessional magazines on company selection of preferred undergraduate deparments.

        Our goal is to promote managementrial knowledge and skills,together with international mobility, in the hospitality field. Four major areas are planned: "Tourism Business Management", "Nature Tourism and Cultural and Creative Tourism Planning", "Hotel MICE and Exhibition Management", and "Innovative Tourism and Sports Tourism Planning". In addition to the study of tourism professional courses, the department also designs many interesting courses within the fields of multi-cultural creative tourism and natural sustainable planning. The hospitality and hotel courses emphasize both theories and practices. In addition, the practical internships and visiting activities for international mobility are additional features of the department. Such holistic training plans for tourism management talent have made the students of this department a new generation of tourism management talents with international vision, humanistic innovation, and sustainable concerns.

Four Major Areas of the Department of Tourism Management

Tourism Business Management
        This area aims to develop students' ability to engage in tourism planning and management of natural sustainability and cultural creativity, and then using and applying these learned skills and knowledge within the tourism industry. The curriculum planning is based on the cultivation of tourism management majors, and then provides multi-nature tourism combined with cultural and creative planning professional courses to further develop students' professional abilities in natural tourism and cultural and creative tourism planning. Through these perfect curriculum planning  and course trainings, students can improve their future career development.

Nature Tourism and Cultural and Creative Tourism Planning
        The abilities developing natural sustainability, cultural and creative tourism planning, and operation application and practice is for students to reach outstanding excellence within the tourism industry. Curriculum planning is based on the initial development of tourism management skills,which are  then combinse multi-nature tourism ane cultural and creative planning professional courses to further develop students' professional abilities in natural tourism and cultural and creative tourism planning, and improve students' future career development through innovative curriculum planning.

Hotel MICE and Exhibition Management
        This area aims to cultivate hotel, MICE, and exhibition talents, with international perspectives. The course design covers hotel management, catering management, and related courses such as exhibition planning and management. At the same time, through the improvement of practical training and practice curriculum planning, as well as domestic and foreign visits and other diversified teaching activities, student' future workplace competiveness will be strengthened
Innovative Tourism and Sports Tourism Planning
        This area combines the emerging fields of tourism and sports. The curriculum planning is based on the professional courses of sports and tourism theories, the various teaching courses of workplace internships and visits of practical fields, including domestic and international institutes and industries. The curriculum planning focuses on improving innovative tourism and sports tourism so that students could have the abilities to participate in sports events and innovative tourism product planning for the activities of air, water, and regional sports and recreation.

Practicum Lab & Class

Practicum Restaurant and Cooking Class
Professional full-time teachers conduct the class of restaurant start-up business, and to be an entrepreneur is not a dream.
        A well-equipped kitchen and restaurant in place are provided to students of the Department of Tourism to practice as a simulated business world. Students are taught to build up their own management teams in charge of self-funding, dining area deco, purchasing, menu, cooking, dining services, and financial analysis of profits and losses. The four sets of software including the catering POS system allows students to actually operate the reservation software and the contents of the business report, which is of great benefit for students who wish to open a restaurant when they graduate in the future.

Tourism Resource Classroom
        The tourism information classroom mainly focuses on professional teaching in line with practical courses such as “Global Distribution System”,

“Tourism E-commerce”, “Hotel Front Desk Operation”, “Food and Beverage Project Planning”, which provide students with the professional skills of airline reservation, travel industry integration systems, hotel front desk system and catering POS system. 

Industry-University Hotel
        The department has established a total of five floors industry-university hotel coordinated with Zhishan Hotel with Neiment Zizhu Temple. With the direct connection with industry, students can learn from practical opportunities and become fully-skilled hotel management elites trained by professional teachers from our department. 

Airlines and Tourism Service Classroom
        The department has fully-equipped an airlines and tourism service classroom, which mainly focuses on the airlines operation service and tour guide practice curricular. The classroom consists of a simulated passenger cabin, a simulated checking-in and baggage kiosk designed with related airport departure/arrival information, which aims to provide students with the real-world environment without gap in between industry and school learning.    


Moon World, Taiwan High-Speed Rail, Railway Station & Airport Tourist Service Center
        The department has been entrusted by Kaohsiung City Government for the four major tourism service centers in Moon World, Zuoying Station,Taiwan High Speed Rail and Kaohsiung International Airport. By offering professional service for tourists visiting in Kaohsiung City, students can enrich their interpreting experience and tourism related skills of touring through the cooperation with local government. 


Employment Accredited Programs of Cultural & Creative Experience and New Tourism 
        In the senior year, the department provides a series of cultural and creative experience and innovation tourism accredited programs, which are planned by professionals from the cultural and creative tourism, both academic and practical. Due to the demands on human resources of “cultural and creative tourism and smart tourism”, knowledge and application of cultural and creative tourism have become important skill at workplace skills. Therefore this program is designed with expertise curricular and internship experience. In addition to the theoretical knowledge of cultural, creative and intelligent tourism management, this program has also contains further practical training for related work, so as to cultivate students’ thinking and practical ability of cultural, creative and intelligent tourism planning.

International exchange

Strengthen students' employment competitiveness and enhance students' international perspective

The department has signed cooperation projects and offers opportunities for students to study abroad with 
Huangshan University in China, Chiang Mai University in Thailand, Australian University of Science and 
Technology, the Saima University of Technology in Finland, HTMI Hotel Management University in 
Switzerland, and the Samara Branch of Moscow State University, and exchange students from five 
continents around the world. In cooperation with the festival course every year, students could be selected 
and be representatives of the department to participate in the practical planning and exhibition of festival 
tourism at the Honolulu Festival in Hawaii State. In addition, there are international visits every year, and the 
destinations are Xiamen, Beijing, Shanghai, and other places.

Tourism Oriented

High-speed rail, Lion Travel Agency, Easy Travel, Shanfu Travel Agency, Haisheng Pavilion, Hsinchu 
Shepa Leisure Farm, Xingbang Travel Agency, Principal Travel Agency and other comprehensive travel 
agencies, Hongxi Travel Agency, China Airlines, as well as Moon World, High Speed Rail, Railway Station, 
The airport tourism service center, together with the British Consulate in Dagou, the Pier 2 Art Special Zone, 
and the Weiwuying National Art Center, are well-known units for cultural tour guides and explanations.

Hospitality Oriented

Din Tai Fung Snacks, Taipei Marriott Hotel, Le Méridien Taipei, Grand Hyatt Taipei Hotel, W HOTEL, 
Sheraton Hsinchu, Royal Hsinchu Hotel, Hotel Indigo, Regent Taipei and Regent Group, Hi-Lai Hotel 
Kaohsiung, Evergreen Laurel Wine Taichung Shops and other five-star hotels and well-known units.

International Internship

※Japan overseas internship
In the senior grade, the department plans to allow students to go overseas for internships in Japan. The 
internship units that have cooperated recently are Tianzhuang Kawaguchiya Main Building, Mikiya, 
Kinosaki リバーサイドホテル, いちだや Hotel, and まつや Hotel for internships in Hyogo Prefecture, as 
well as Hokkaido and Tokyo. Internships can improve students' language skills, and they can also directly 
work in Japan after graduation.

※Singapore overseas internship
In the fourth grade, the department plans to allow students to go abroad to Singapore. After selection, they 
can go to Singapore Changi Airport for groundwork and five-star hotel internships. In addition to increasing 
their professional skills, they can also cultivate their international outlook and language skills. Employment 
after graduation.

※Mainland overseas internship
The department cooperates with the career team to arrange for students to go abroad for internships in 
mainland China (dozens of large enterprises in Shanghai, Xiamen, Fujian, Zhejiang and other places), 
providing students with more choices. The department also dispatches internships in hotels and tourism 
industries in Yewan Seaview International Resort and Hong Kong, Macau and other places, providing 
students with more diversified development and choices.

※Internship at Le Meridien Chiang Rai, Thailand
The department cooperates with Le Méridien Chiang Rai, Thailand. Students are recommended by the 
school and selected through interviews. They can go to Le Méridien Chiang Rai for an internship. They can 
increase their language skills and expand their international vision through overseas internships.

※Summer vacation training program in Tottori Prefecture, Japan
This department and the Tottori Prefecture Tourism and Exchange Bureau's training program are designed 
by the Japanese government and is suitable for practical internship activities for Taiwan students. It provides student with a unique opportunity to improves 
their language skills, and at the same time experience local culture customs and customs.
